About Us

I’m Melissa, mother to Isabelle (5), Griff (3) and Jepson (6 months).
I earned my BFA in Dance from Ohio University. During college,
I met my husband and honed my sewing skills by working on
costume crew for the dance school. I was working as the
marketing coordinator for an architecture firm and was studying
graphic design at Virginia Marti College of Art and Design
when I became pregnant.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I was fortunate to see
a mother change a cloth diaper. Instantly I knew we would
choose cloth and so began my first obsession. Before long I was
making and designing my own diapers. My husband and I have
been working together with my online business since 2003. I do
all the sewing and fabric shopping, of course, and he is the
"snap press operator" and helps me with all things technical on
our website and instock store.

Our family is committed to living a sustainable life and we are
always working to improve upon that goal. Using cloth diapers
and cloth menstrual pads are part of living responsibly in a world
with finite resources. Spooky Kitty Collective is here to contribute
what we can to help families cloth diaper their children which is,
as we all know, healthier for babies, better for the Earth, more
economical for families and much more fun!
